PT HAD HYSTEROSCOPY DILATION AND CURETTAGE USING MYOSURE. SHOULD BE USING 58558 OR 58561

DX: THICKENED ENDOMETRIAL LINING, PELVIC PAIN, ENDOMETROSIS AND LEFT ENDOMETRIOMA

If the path report states is it a fibroid then, yes, 58561 would be the correct code to use. All fibroids are benign.

ok as long as it's a fibroid based on pathology we can use that 58561 cpt code, correct? if the path shows benign fibroid then we can't?

I would need to see the detail of the op note to help with this one. An endometrioma is not a fibroid and 58561 stipulates that must be what is removed. Normally an endometrioma (sometimes referred to as a chocolate cyst) is found in the ovary, not the lining of the uterus.
