Melanie, just a follow-up question and clarification on laminaria placement . IN the case scenario of laminaria placement for a gynecology procedure such as dilatation and evacuation per provider's question, we can bill the CPT 59200 correct and with multiple placement where supply is being reported or billed in the office setting, can we bill the supply code in multiple units? In your response, the RBRVS for CPT 59200 includes up to 3 laminaria stents. Would the same rule applies in the office setting where we can't report the supply code? Thanks. Respectfully, Gracie

The 3 laminaria stents ARE for the office setting. When done in a facility, the facility supplies the stents, not the MD, so the RVUs in that setting are lower allowing only for physician work, not supplies that will be billed separately by the facility. And yes, 59200, while in the OB chapter of CPT can be used for gyn procedures. However, if a procedure requires dilation, 59200 will probably get denied as included in the office setting (e.g, hysteroscopic D&C, regular D&C).
