Hi Melanie - what dx would you use when someone comes in for routine pessary cleaning/maintenance? Z46.6 encounter for fitting and adjustment of urinary device or Z46.89 encounter for fitting and adjustment of other specified devices?

Thanks!

Thanks so much for confirming. I do use cystocele, prolapse, etc as additional codes and the N898 when applicable. Just wasn't sure which was the better z code. thanks again.

I would go with Z46.89 if it is a routine screening. But if the patient has a vaginal infection due to the pessary look for that diagnostic code instead (usually N89.8). You can also use a secondary code for her condition that resulted in use of the pessary.
