There are several surgeons in our community, some same practice, some in different practices. They are all on the 'On call' rotation with the hospital. If one surgeon is called into ER, sees the patient, and ends up performing a major surgery, but then he is scheduled to be off on vacation, so the next on call surgeon takes over and sees the patient in the hospital for the remaining of the hospital stay, do we just bill the post op visit as if it was the original surgeon? the original surgeon did not sign off or transfer patient and will be seeing patient in the office after he comes back from vacation, so I do not see a modifier, 54, 55 situation Thanks
