Hello Melanie

For Chapter 15 ICD-10 codes if the condition is depression in pregnancy, do we code both two ICD-10 codes 099.34_ other mental disorder complicating pregnancy and F32.9 depression? 099.34_ does not state to use additional code to identify condition, but I have always coded both to further identify. Is this correct?

If the guidelines or the tabular index do not require an additional code to describe the mental illness, then it is optional. I, like you, prefer to include as much information as possible. So while to a requirement, I would also report F32.9
