Pt came in to have IUD inserted after C/S delivery. Doctor inserted IUD with resistance and ultrasound revealed IUD malposition, so it was removed. Pt to return in 6 wks for second attempt. I billed 58300-Z3.0430 & 58301-T83.32XA-displacement of IUD. I know there isn't a global period on this , but is there a modifier to use so it is not denied as duplicate charge?

Well you are in the global for the cesarean so you may have to add a modifier -79 to the first insertion/removal. And if ultrasound was performed you can bill for that too (transvaginal depending on their being a formal report or ultrasound guidance if that better describes it (and I would love to see a copy of the documentation). For the second time she comes in you can try the -76 but most payers only recognize that modifier when the procedure is repeated on the same date of service.
