Good Morning, We have a new group of GYN/ONC who are billing for LSC Ureterolysis. They are trying to bill 50715 ( which I know is an open procedure ) . Would Ureterolysis be bundled into the main procedures ( hysterectomy , LSC cysytectomy, etc...) or would we bill unlisted cpt 50949. Thanks in advance .

Also will you be moving to AAPC as well?
Have a great day

Yes, I will be doing the moderating over at the AAPC site. As to your question, 50715 cannot be reported, and in most cases ureterolysis would be bundled during hysterectomy as the surgeon must ensure that the ureters are safely away from the surgical site before cutting. If the patient did in fact have retropubic fibrosis and the ureterolysis took significant additional work you have the option of adding a modifier -22 to the primary code or reporting 50949 - either way you are facing an uphill reimbursement battle.
