Does anyone else charge for self - cath techniques? We have a satellite office that is charging 97535, and as I understand it, the nurse is doing this. According to CPT, it states this is direct one-on-one contact with the provider. Does that mean the nurse as well? Also, I just received a rej from Medicare stating that I need a modifier with this- what would that be ?
Thanks in advance,
Jennifer V

We also use this when our CMA's teach self cath - when our Nurse
Practitioner teaches a patient we often use a higher code depending on
documentation for the E/M code.

Alice, how are you billing for teaching self cath? This ? comes up in our office and we have been billing only a 99211.

I believe that patient education is included in the E/M code. Would be interested to know if people are being reimbursed for self cath instruction.
